What You Can Expect:

  • Introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) principles and their applicability in law enforcement, including positional control leading to submissions.
  • Focus on maintaining control, de-escalation, and minimizing injuries for all involved.
  • Emphasis on officer safety and effective control using minimal force.
  • Networking opportunities with law enforcement officers from the surrounding area.
  • Open to all skill levels, including beginners without BJJ experience.
  • Techniques adapted for individuals with varying fitness levels and physical abilities.
  • These seminars are taught by experienced law enforcement officers and offered at no cost, as is the Resilience BJJ Academy’s contribution to the law enforcement community.

 

Attire:

  • Compression shirts are recommended but t-shirts or long sleeve shirts are permitted. Please remember that the students will be performing extremely physical activity.
  • Long athletic type pants or shorts are permitted but please nothing with zippers, pockets, rivets, or any clothing with metal. Gi pants are also permitted.
  • Students will be training with bare feet.
  • Sandals are required to be worn when not on the training mats.
  • Optional: groin protection and/or mouth guard.

 

Hygiene:

  • The students need to stick to strict hygiene standards for the training.
  • Finger and toenails must be short and clean.
  • If the student is sick or develops a skin condition (i.e., staph infection, ringworm, etc.) please do not attend for the safety of everyone.
  • The students must cover any pre-existing wounds so that they do not become infected. If the students sustain a cut or scrape during training, ensure that they notify an instructor so that it can be addressed.
  • If blood get on the mat, please notify an instructor so that it can be cleaned immediately.
  • The students should bring hand sanitizer and wash their hands frequently and after using the restroom.

 

Notes:

  • The seminars are restricted to active law enforcement officers only.
  • Please bring your law enforcement identification as it might be required to show before admittance.
  • No weapons of any kind are allowed in the training facility. Please secure all weapons in your vehicles, per state requirements, or leave them home.
  • No duty gear is needed for the training.
  • The techniques that will be taught are for self-defense and are not California P.O.S.T. approved as this is not P.O.S.T. approved training, nor is there any affiliation to any law enforcement agency by the R.B.J.J. Academy or its instructors.
